Ancient Egypt facts!! By Logan and Rachel
DID YOU KNOW....
That if you got buried n the Acient Eqypt ground, you often wouldn't rot! This is because there is few alive bacteria in the ground. Leaving the bodys to gradually dry up!
The richer people used a fancy mummification process. The undertakers would take out all your guts and put them in canopic jars. Then they shrunk your brain and pulled your brain out through your nostrils using a hook like a crochet hook!
But they didn't take out your heart, because the Ancient Egyptians believed that your soul was in your heart, and you needed t in the afterlife!
Then the undertakers stuffed you full of Natron. Natron is a mix between salt and soda. Natron dries things out. When they thought you were dry enough, they washed off the Natron. Then stuffed you full of leaves and sawdust and other scraps to make you look more normal!
The undertakers wrapped you in strips of linen, tucking in good luck charms while they do it. Then they covered the linen with a layer of papyrus straps, like paper mache. Finally they put you in a series of wooden coffins, one inside the other and then in a ston sarcophagus!
The richer you were, the more complicated the mummification process was. If you couldn't afford natron, for instance, you might just have to get your guts taken out and stop there. But most people were too poor to have mummification at all!
Like the Sumerians at the same time, the Egyptians around 3000-2500 BC, devoted a lot of energy and resources to build big buildings. The Pyramids are one of the most impressive monuments in the world! You can even still go and visit them today!
The Pharaohs, the ruler of Egypt, built the Pyramids as tombs for them selves. The First Pharaohs built simpler tombs, called mastabas!

Moon facts
1. The moon is 4.5 billion years old!
2. The diameter of the moon is 2,163 miles!
3. The moon is small compared to the earth. If the earth were hollow you could ft 50 moons inside it!
4. The moon looks bright to us but the moon doesn't give its own light. The reason why it looks bright is because of the way the sun shines on its surface!
5. When the moon is closer to earth it is called a perigee and when its far away it is called a apogee!

Greetings Room 11 Students
I went to Room 15 this morning to take a look at your background for Sleeping Beauty. They look really good. Great to see some of you experimenting with mixing colours. I look forward to seeing the finished product. Fantastic to hear you were amazing and settled for Mrs Priscott.

Room 15's Big move
On Monday Room 15 is going to be shifted to Christchurch to replace a classroom because of the February 22nd Earthquake.
At the moment there's a cut in between room 15 and room 14.
There is an orange gate with a metal frame.
